Home

The human heart is extraordinary. We yearn for things we've always waited to be able to remember. How do things and places we've never touched or been to overwhelm us with a sense of home? What indeed, is a sense of home? It is a feeling of safety and immeasurable hope, of comfort. It is where we can be our individual, unique selves and yet still belong perfectly without standing out or blending in too much. Such an ugly life is lived when there can be no sense of home, where our hearts are plagued by fear, discontent and abandonment. The sense of home is so strong, that we might know where it is, even if we have never been there before.

I have an earthly home, a place where I feel the closest to my true, spiritual home, even though I've never been there before. I find it in music, in voices, in language, in smells and sights and sounds. Truly, God's spirit is everywhere. If we let it, anywhere and everywhere can be home.
